Financial PolicyWhen it comes to cost, none of us like surprises. Our policy is to tell you in advance of any treatment (whenever possible), what your investment will be and make definite financial arrangements before we begin treatment. After your initial examination, diagnosis, and consultation, we will review with you our recommended treatment plan and its estimated cost. We also will offer treatment alternatives and their cost(s). Occasionally, we may modify the treatment plan therefore changing the estimated cost. This happens only if additional treatment and/or changes become necessary. Usually we will complete the specified procedures for the quoted fee. We ask that you begin treatment within three months from the date of presentation and finish within a 12 month period. Dental Insurance and Payment Options
Our office will be more than happy to work with you and your insurance company to help maximize your insurance benefits. We hope you understand the up front limitations of your own coverage and also understand that we submit claims to your insurance company as a courtesy to you only. Your insurance company has no obligation to our office and therefore if a claim is denied for any reason, it is your responsibility. Many insurance plans cover 100% of preventative dental services (cleanings, x-rays, exams) with most insurance plans covering 80% to as little as 30% for basic and/or major treatment. This amount is determined by what type of benefit package your employer has purchased. Some plans base the amount of benefit on a schedule of the fees arbitrarily developed by insurance companies (also known as UCR usual, reasonable, and customary fees). For this reason, you may receive lower payment than expected by your dental plan. For example, if your plan states that it will pay 80% of the cost of a specific procedure, it means 80% of the fee arbitrarily determined by the insurance company and not the actual fee charged by our office. Your out-of-pocket payment may actually be higher than the estimated 20%. Most dental insurance plans do not cover procedures deemed cosmetic (i.e. whitening). Fortunately, certain cosmetic procedures are also preventative and functional and these may be covered by your insurer. A pre-treatment estimate will be filed with your insurance company prior to your appointment to make you aware of any treatment which is not covered. Should you have any questions concerning your insurance coverage, please contact your insurance carrier or employer insurance representative.
