When coming in for a cleaning, exam, and oral cancer screening we will do our best to make you as comfortable as possible. Our entire team is here to serve you, so if there are any "special needs" to make your visit a success, don't hesitate to ask when scheduling your appointment.

For first time visitors, we will require that you have a comprehensive evaluation, oral cancer screening, periodontal charting, full mouth series of x-rays, photographs taken of your mouth, and if necessary we will take pictures from an intraoral camera (to show any decay or fractures of teeth usually used to submit to your insurance company). To save you a return trip we will perform a cleaning on the same day barring any periodontal conditions. The hygienist will also address any concerns that you have, answer any homecare questions, and review proper brushing and flossing techniques as applicable. The initial appointment is a little over one and one-half hours and is covered by most insurance companies at 100% (dependent on your insurance plan).

For patients of record, your check-up appointment is usually 45 minutes to an hour. A cleaning, oral cancer screening, and examination is performed, Intraoral pictures will be taken if needed, and to reduce your exposure to radiation, we will take x-rays when you are experiencing a problem or if it is time for "routine" check-up x-rays (about once a year). X-rays are necessary even with a thorough examination to see if there is any decay between the teeth. Much like the initial appointment, your insurance company usually covers your visit at 100% (depending on your policy), the hygienist will answer and questions that you have, review brushing and flossing techniques as necessary, and schedule your next visit before you check out.

If this is your child's first visit to the dentist let them know that the dentist office is a fun place to go! We strive to provide a positive and great first visit for your child. Depending on your child's age, a cleaning, exam, and fluoride treatment is performed on the first visit. For older children (or if there is any visible decay) we will take x-rays as needed. The initial visit is usually 45 minutes to an hour and the hygienist will count the teeth, go over proper brushing and flossing techniques, answer any questions that you may have, and let you know what to expect in the future (as far as loosing primary teeth, when to expect the eruption of molars, etc.). All children will be treated to the "goodie basket" after the visit and be scheduled for their next check-up upon checkout. It is important to emphasize good oral hygiene to your children and it is important to assist very young children when brushing.
